14 Jul 2016 | by Ruchika Anand | Posted in: Wag News

There are some breeds of dogs that are a far cry from the cute Maltese and Bichon Frise. These breeds that can go all wolfish in their looks, what with their build, shape of the ears and muzzle, and of course, eyes. The wolfish dogs are usually on the handsome, and somewhat intimidating side of the spectrum (in terms of looks), rather than the adorable.

Here are seven such breeds:

1. Tamaskan

The Tamaskan is a rare, Finnish breed of dog that has been bred to have a wolf-like appearance, as recently as in 2006. Tamaskans have a very wolfish appearance what with their grey coats, large size, straight furry tails and non-blue eyes. There are around 400 Tamaskans right now.
