Aggresive Bulldog

Posted in Obedience Training | By: B V Gupta | 11 Jan 2010 2:52 pm

I have a 2 year old male intact bulldog....was bought from a vet in goa. Initially all was fine except the dog not wanting to go out for walks. We some how had to trick him into getting hold of his leash and taking him for walks else he would mess up the house. After a few months he has turned very unpredictable and without any given warning he has bitten my family members...sometime very big wounds and sometimes not so big ones....He does this in the house, but when you take him outside he is extremely affectionate with everymember. There are no access to trainers where we live. Can anyone help understanding this behaviour?

Of late he has become extremely aggressive...if he sees anyone passing by, he will attempt to run towards the passerby and jump on him. Can he be still trained out of this behaviour?

Hope I can get a few replies which would help in understanding why he behaves this way and also what to do in such situations.

aggression mainly means dog not properly socialised. Take him to busy road and stay there till he calms down. Whenever he seems agressive try to divert his mind by giving him some treat. Infact handler needs more patience than the dog to correct his behaviour. Is he leashed in home? Lonelyness and lack of movement might also contribute to this nature. I suggest you contact Mr Partha who also has a bulldog n get some more practical tips on this breed

I need to know a lot of past history and present conditions before we can give a comprehensive program to work on him.
