Every dog has it's day, but this June, it seemed it had gone to the dogs. Everyday, there was some news or the other that was about dogs - whether it was about animal cruelty in Kerala or at the Yulin Dog festival, the worship and celebration of dogs at Kathmandu or the fact that a man was married off to a dog!!

Yulin Dog Festival
the Yulin Dog Festival created the biggest noise this year where thousands of people raised petition to stop the gruesome and horrific dog festival and to save innocent, helpless dogs from being burnt alive, killed and then eaten as a part of an age old celebration of the summer solstice.
Chinese woman saves 500 dogs from being turtures at the Yulin Dog Meat festival
Ms Yang, an ardent animal lover, spent more than 30,000 Pounds to save 600 dogs from being tortured at the Yulin Dog Meat festival.
Her act was appreciated and deemed as selfless and heroic!
Volunteers turn dogs to raise awareness
Knowing the horror of Yulin Dog Meat Festival, volunteers and activists across the world joined hands to depict the torture that dogs undergo in the hands of sadist believers of the festival. They portrayed their anguish and aimed to raise awareness.

the State government of Kerala has been under the radar for all the wrong reasons. The state administration has been fighting with the menace of growing stray dog population and the increase in the dog bite cases. Horrors of dogs being poisoned and killed raised quite a few eyebrows.
