Kandivili Contractor Arrested For Brutally Beating Up A Stray Dog

20 Nov 2014 | by Neha Manchanda | Posted in: Wag News

It was fortunate day when 45 year old Kandivili based contractor Haribhau Kamble got arrested for brutally beating up a stray dog with an iron rod. Unfortunately, the injured dog succumbed to severe head injuries.

Haribhau Kamble, a resident of Samta Nagar in Kandivili, Mumbai was arrested after he brutally beat up a stray dog with an iron rod, leaving her paralysed in the hind legs and her ribs broken. The dog unfortunately succumbed to severe head injuries inflicted on her. The incident highlights the cruelty that stray dogs face on a daily basis due to ruthless people around.

The incident took place when Kamble got annoyed as the dog was barking at another dog that had strayed into her territory. According to eyewitnesses, the deceased dog had growled at Kamble and another man after they had stepped on her tail. The dog was brutally beaten up with a rod even after she started to bleed. When help arrived, the dog was lying in a pool of blood and bleeding profusely with a hole on one side of her head and was unable to get up. When Salim Charania of Peace for Animal Welfare Association reached the scene, he immediately filed a complaint against Kamble.

In a statement, Salim Charania highlighted the growing cases of animal cruelty that his organisation witnesses on a daily basis and hopes that law enforcement agencies will take strict actions while handling such cases. Even though Kamble is out on bail, he has been booked under Section 428 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) of the Indian Penal Code and under section 11 (1)(a) (treating animals cruelly) of the prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
