Walk your Dog kick-started it’s first session this last Sunday and brought in happy smiles on the faces of many pet owners. For those of you who missed our previous article, this initiative was started to reinstate the all-important between the pet parent and his pet. It is ironic that most of us treat our dogs like family members but when it comes to spending time with them that is the part which gets compromised most.
The event saw a lot of pet parents braving the morning cold and coming out to participate with their dogs. The Walk Your Dog saw some fun activities as well to keep it engaging for both the pet and their owners. The winners walked with exciting packs from Farmina, containing a goody bag of . Cibau products The event was judged by Narbheesh Red, a dog behaviourist and Praveen Kora, a certified dog trainer.
The pets were awarded on good behaviour, their obedience, how well trained they were and how well groomed they were. Then there was a category on the name of the event itself that is one of the best walking dogs in the show.
We at DogSpot understand the need of these walks, the importance it has in your pet’s life and the bonding that comes with it. So, we in collaboration with PetSpot started the initiative Walk Your Dog, this allows you take your dog for a walk while allowing you to meet pet owners for all walks of life.
Our dogs are like a part of our family; they can be our companions, siblings and kids for us. At DogSpot being ardent pet lovers and having numerous dog owners within our own team, we understand the problems a pet parent can face. Some say that there is not enough space to around to take them out. Some apartment complex does not take kindly to pets and then some have neighbours that have a no to tolerant towards pets. So when we took this Initiative to revive this all essential pet walk we choose it to be a part of the Rahagiri day.
The event received happy response from all participants. Here is what some of the owners have to say about this initiative, which is most likely to continue all through March. Ajay Batra one of the happy participants says that walking with your dog helps to strengthen the bond between them. Vishal J Nair another proud owner of a dog feels that walking your dog is like playtime for them so it is important to let them have fun.
Pravin Kora says that when you walk your dog you can identify a lot of health issues. He also feels that when you take them for a walk personally you can check their poop and ensure that they do not suffer from any ailments. Karuna Chahuan is of the opinion that a pet is like one’s own child and the more time we spend with them the more the bond is strengthened.
Walk Your dog will continue all through Rahagiri, this is a campaign by the residents of the Gurgaon as the name suggests it is to reclaim the streets of the Gurgaon. It took the zeal of a few citizens to come together and reclaim the streets. Rahagiri started in November and is expected to continue all through March. The campaign brings together numerous people who take on to streets to get back what is rightfully theirs; the road. The roads are blocked for all vehicle movement. The road is then open to the people, you can see people interacting with each other. Kids playing on the street, which is a rare sight these days. Residents doing their morning yoga and dog shows happening right in the middle of the Street.
Walk Your Dog is also on the same lines. We want to bring together like minded people, genuine dog lovers. We want to give them a common platform to interact with each other. Along with everything there is going to be lots of prizes for all your dogs to be won. There were small activities, which will help you to take this prize home. Farmina Pet Foods (Cibau) has recognised the initiative and has agreed to sponsor the treats and prizes this time for pet. This is just the beginning. There are miles to go before we can sleep. In future we aim to rope in other brands for this endeavour as well.
The Walk Your Dog starts from PetSpot, which is located in D 04, Supermarket II, DLF Phase IV in Gurgaon. A grooming parlour and pet boarding facility that is spearheaded by a dog lover herself, Vizal Atheya. The aim of this initiative is to help people to bond with your dog, we want to give you some quality time with your pooch. It is believed that a dog is man’s best friend and why not. They give us unconditional love and expect nothing in return. They give us companionship, be with us through our lives up and down. It is now our turn to show them that this love and affection is appreciated and reciprocated. Play fun games with your pets, communicate with like-minded people on this coming Sunday. At the moment the event is only open to residents of Gurgaon and the NCR.
