The "Little" bundle of joy

Posted in Buying a puppy | By: Capt Peeyush Nath | 22 Oct 2009 4:48 pm

For the first time in my life I was not flirting when i said " oh... you look much better then the pic". My heart leaped out wiht joy when I saw the 2 months old great dane pup in ranchi airport. Cute looking, merl colour, though a liil scared he looked every bit of the dream dog that i always dreamt of.

After months of scouting for a pup and burning hundreds of rupees in phone bills in talking to breeders/ professionals/ puppy mill owners/ well wishers, I finally encountered a home where there was a home bred great dane who had given birth to a litter. I saw the pics for the first time and fell in love with the lovely looking boy.

It as been just two days with him and he has already become such an integral part of my life. Follows me everywhere. In two days, picked up the spot to relieve himself.. The way he shows his happiness when i am around makes me feel as if i am the best human being in world. The affection that he showers on me making me his centre of the world is an amazing feeling. In just one day he became so close to me that when i was sitting and reading something and a man from my unit came for the usual orders this fellow started barking. Ohh the little moments of joy these creatures can provide you. Only the owner knows.

P.S. In the search of my pup, I am indebted to a lot of people for their suggestions and advices. Ravinder of this site tops the chart.I might have antagonised a lot of people in the process of scouting for a pup of my choice. One thing i have realised that not all the people in this dog world are selfish and are here just for money making business. Mr Sikander of Vom Kennels, Kingsland Kennels,Ghiriyal Kennels from Hyd, Anil from Lucknow, are the few people who were real professional and were more then eager to give advices and suggestions and whom i found were the ones with genuine pup. This, I am saying despite of the fact I havent bought my pup from them. Thanks to all of you. I will keep you updated about Dennis( that's what i Christined my great dane pup.... the "little" bundle of joy.)

Anil @ DoggiesDude

The bottomline is that love cannot be bought by MONEY. Its the feeling attached when you tune up with a pup of your imagination. Congrats and all the best for the future life with "Dennis the Menace".
Take lots of videos and photos. It feels great when ypu see them after sometime.

Anil @ DoggiesDude

Keep in mind that You are the ONLY friend and ONLY enemy for the pup. His life revolves just around you and he will be more happy when he makes you laugh, play...

yes , there are few good people around like Mr. Anil..who are working for the well being of the dogs...and what anil said is right...we are both friend and enemy for our pups...right knowlegde of the breed is very important..i lost my 1 yrs old mastiff last year . I do consider myself responsible for that..cause i did not had the right knowledge of the breed and was not able to raise him that way...maybe i did feed him extra protien/vitamins/calcium...the result was he got cancer. my suggestion is never ever buy a complicated breed out of excitement unless you have the knowledge of the breed. I myself did the mistake and paid heavily for that...i went through a ton of emotional crises. the thing is doctors told me to inject and make him sleep forever has he was going through lot of pain and all of us were helpless.i can't explain what i was feeling like. It was really very tough for me to take the decision. My doctor told me to do it as he was really going through lot of pain. I decided to take a day and spend some time with him..and next day my doctor injected him. I was there taking his head on my lap..i saw everything. I still can't forget my mastiff. It was only after all this...that i went indept knowledge of the breed. My lost mastiff is now my inspiration to work hard towards this breed. I really Pray from bottom of my heart...No one should go through what i have. DAM I JUST CAN'T FORGET HIM..I JUST CAN'T...HE IS ALWAYS THERE WITH ME AND WILL BE UNTILL I DIE.
