When Gizelle, a 160 pound
English Mastiff was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, her pet parent and friend Lauren Fern Watt decided to spend the rest of Gizelle’s life in the happiest way possible.
Lauren Fern Watt is a travel writer and a public relations professional who lives in New York. When she came to know about Gizelle’s illness, she prepared a bucket list with everything she knew would make Gizelle happy. Fern and Gizelle had spent some of the most memorable moments of their life together and Fern wanted the memories of their time together to be special.
The bucket list included all the adventures that would make wonderful memories for Fern to cherish.
A Canoe ride just like the one in The Little Mermaid with Prince Eric
Early morning trip to the magical Times Square
Cooking perfect lobsters at Well’s Beach in Maine, a trip full of fun!
Eating icecream on a peaceful dock and watching the boats float by!
A girl’s only road trip through New England with Lauren’s best friend and no set destination
Lots of cuddling and spending time in each others’ arms
Spending a whole sunny day watching people in Washington Square Park
Sharing and eating the best Donuts in the world at Congdon’s Donuts, Maine
Meeting Santa for Gizelle’s last Christmas
Sitting by the ocean in Maine while it snowed.
After Gizelles died, Lauren penned the sad news on Instagram and wrote “I lost my best friend yesterday. Gizelle was the most sensitive and loving creature I’d ever known and words cannot explain how much I will miss her. Heaven has gained a beautiful doggy angel. Rest in peace, Gizelle”.
