Pets life no longer cheap - Govt. set to bring owners into heal

Posted in News | By: Hemanshu | 08 May 2010 1:17 pm

If you have read the "Times of India" Delhi edition today dated May/08, the news is on the first page which talks good things from Breeder's/ Owner perspective and what steps can be taken by good breeder to ensure his/ her pet goes into good home, which all breeders like.

The article talks about, enabling/ empowering breeder's to ask as many question to the buyer, which in today's world its just limited to few question and also visit the buyer's home to check the surroundings and condition (home/ support in future) and based on which seller can take decision.

From buyer perspective, what I liked was, buyer can look at all hereditary background i.e. health of the entire pedigree and ask/ probe breeder to share all medical history and ask for health certificate, which ensures you bring a pet which is healthy, since you spend some thousand odd rupees.

"provide a veterinarian’s statement certifying the cause of death". I am based in Lucknow. My pet died at home due to allergic reaction to over vaccination. Neither of the two vets in my colony visited it when it was down nor when I SMSed them that our beloved Jerry had left us. You think this law in Delhi can ever be enforced in this God forsaken city? Dogs must not be vaccinated annually especially senior dogs. Do you thinks these local vets care. They are only interested in making
money by befooling pet owners by quoting from charts of Intervet and other vaccine manufacturers. Jerry in his last throes had some problem in the throat that was brought to the attention of a vet surgeon-cum-radiologist who merely diagnosed it as laryngitis but seemed to have forgotten to prescribe antibiotics for the same. He ignored my request for endoscopy as small dogs especially Spitz are known to have trachea collapse during old age.

@gspal - I have my sympathy with you for Jerry.
what I am saying is not the law getting implemented in Delhi, I thought of bring this to knowledge to all users hitting on site if they have not read the news and not in Delhi.
