Pitbull Saves A Deaf Boy From Fire [News]

06 Aug 2014 | by Krithika | Posted in: Wag News

We have always talked about brave dogs and how dogs have saved the day, and how their loyalty always lies towards their owners. Here is a story about how a Pitbull saves a boy from fire. Pitbulls, as many people presume to be ferocious, changed all notions yet again.
Ace, the Pitbull saves a 13 year old deaf boy from Indianapolis, capital of Indiana in The United States. Nick Lamb, a thirteen year old deaf boy was sleeping when Ace came over and licked his face all through to alert him that the house was on fire.
Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Rita Reith says that he was sleeping without his hearing aid when the fire began.

"My dog licked my face and woke me up," Lamb said. "I was like, 'Stop it! What? You want to be fed?' I thought he wanted to be fed or go outside."  "I couldn't hear anything because I had my cochlear implants off. ... My dog Ace smelled it,I just wanted to get out."  said Nick, who was born deaf.

Ace didn't stop licking the face until Nick got up and he realised that the house was full of smoke. Nick ran out without his shoes along with Ace. His mother, Lindsay later called 911.
"It's amazing, because if he wouldn't have been there, he probably wouldn't have even woke up," Lindsay said crediting Ace for the work he has done.

Nick had returned home after a summer camp just three days ago this incident happened and his mother believed that he was old enough to stay home alone now. It was his first summer home alone. The firefighters also recovered “Pixie”, the families cat from the apartment and sent her to the vet for diagnosis and they said that she was recovering. The damage in the house is said to be over $175,000 (Rs.10,67,2200).
