Well a reliable source is really difficult to point. "Reputed breeders" may be one reference for you. I personally have seen everyone has "sales" at the back of their mind. Specifically you yourself have to choose the best pup, which is really difficult for first-time dog owners. Reputed breeders generally does not sell a bad quality pup but they cost a little extra(simply for their name)...what you will get at 12K, they will may be charging you 15K....if you are ready to pay this extra then go for them. Pups from domestics will cost you less but you will have to recognize the quality. Normal Pet shops also sell good quality pups but very dubious...again you will have to recognize the quality which is really difficult for first-time dog owners. Best solution might be, go along with someone who had has a LAB and not just any dog....lest you find no one as such then you may go with a person who has fair bit of idea about dogs. I say this for definite reasons.

I have personally seen Lab Pups @4k and 17k...both were lab indeed but there was uttered difference...!!!
LAB can cost you as low as 8k and as high as 35k or even 1 Lac(Original British-imported best quality show pups from champ-line with KCGB chip)!!! Anything between 8-12K is fair enough for you,I guess.

All the best!!

[Prices as is in Kolkata. I just shared my first hand experience.]

See the parents of both in person before deciding on the pups. A pup may be kci registered but that does not gaurantee anything. So you will have to see the parents and see if you like them and if they are kept well and are healthy or not. Study the breed on the net to get a better idea on the breed.

Hi Ashu, you can contact a good vet in your locality and take breeders telephone no's. Most breeders work closely with vets. Take an appointment, visit the kennel and study the Dam and sire, and the litter. Or you can visit KCI website and check the list of registered breeders. You can also check classified in Newpapers.

A good reputable breeder in Delhi is Sunny Kochhar. He shows his dogs a lot and lives in Dwarika. You can give him my reference and call him at 9891149202. His show pups cost upto 35k, but he may have a pet puppy who is cheaper. There is a gurgaon show on the 25th of december. it would be a good idea to visit the show and also see all the labs there and also who all win. The show will have breeders from Delhi and around delhi. See the dog event section of this website.

As Mr. Singhs has pointed out, see both the parents and the litter and choose the one you like the most. Because the pup will grow and become like its parents. Collect information about the parents as well, formal history you know...

Sorry to contradict, this KCI site is such a crap....it just freaked me out...dont waste your time over their.....
On the contrary, check http://www.the-kennel-club.org .uk/ & http://www.vandalenkennels.com / ,its so organized.....
