As the monsoons approach, it sure means relief from the the scorrching heat and summers. Rains also spell troubles for our furry babies. The humidity, moisture and the rains make our pets susceptible to skin problems and infections. In this article, we elaborate on how you can take care of your pooches during rains:

Dog Food

  • Rains and humidity result in damp food and bacterial growth. During rains make sure that you serve freshly prepared food to your pooches and discard any left overs.
  • Feed high fiber diet so that bowel movements are regular
  • Refrain from food high in lactose or fat content as during rains your pooches will not get the necessary amount of exercise

Dog Paw care

  • The paws are the most delicate parts of the body and bear the most brunt. When going out during rains, it will be good if your pooches can wear water proof shoes or socks to protect the paws from the moisture and water
  • In case your pooch does not wear shoes, you can tie poly bags that will keep of the water.
  • If not, once back home, wash the paws with luke warm water and soap to get rid of debris and dirt.
  • Using a hair dry or a soft dry towel, dry the paws to reduce any fungal infections

Dog Skin Care

  • Dogs get wet during the rains and their coats hold water inside.
  • Carry an umbrella while going for walks with your pooch. If you can get a rain coat for them that would be brilliant
  • If your pooches are not okay with that, make sure that you dry your pooches either with a dry towel or air dry them to reduce the onset of skin infections.

Do write to us and tell us how you are taking care of your pooches during rains! Have a happy monsoon!!
