With one mission in mind, Sushant Ajnikar has travelled the length of the India i.e. from Leh to Bangalore on his motorbike to raise awareness about the adoption of , especially the ones who have been abandoned on the streets. Indian Dogs
Sushant and his community Paws For India aims to share that Indian dogs make equally good pets just like a
or a Labrador and hopes that people would come forward to adopt more and more Indian Dogs so that the ones on the streets to get a loving and safe home environment. Sushant also pointed out that he has noticed that many people want pedigree dogs such as a Pug , Great Dane and the likes even though they may not have the knowledge of how to maintain and care for the dog. Over a period of time, many people abandon their dogs either because the dog felt ill due to human negligence or just because the owner was unable to train the dog. Many dogs are also euthanised, if extremely ill. German Shepherd
Taking a road trip was not really taken well by his family. During the entire road trip, Sushant bared temperatures of more than 45 degrees, spent almost 14 hours on the road daily and then faced heavy rain and the severe terrain and weather of Leh and Ladakh. However, despite the difficulties, Sushant was able to educate people, spread awareness and spend time and play with the dogs that he met during the journey. Sushant also reminisces of the remarkable people who met during his journey - a ragpicker who feeds 70 dogs a day and also an elderly couple who use the earnings from their restaurant to feed 37 dogs at their home.
We salute the spirit of Sushant and hope more and more people gain awareness about the Indian Dogs and adopt many more so that these dogs too find a safe haven!
