stray dogs 1On Wednesday, an Indian Mongrel made a supreme sacrifice when it jumped into a pool that had live electric wire and saved the lives of commuters bound on Gummidipoondi - Chennai Central local train.

The 6 commuters had paused to jump into a area where there was a live electrical wire. The Indian Mongrel sensed that the commuters were oblivious to the live wire that had snapped from the electrical line. It started to bark to warn the commuters, however when it realised the commuters were not paying heed to its barking, the heroic dog jumped into the pool of water and unfortunately was electrocuted instantly. The commuters were surprised and at the same time grateful to the dog who saved their lives.

It is sad that the heroic dog left behind a litter of 10 day old puppies who were found by the RPF personnel who reached and cordoned off the spot after they were informed by the local people about the incident. Blue Cross team was immediately contacted and the puppies were rescued. Unfortunately, due to the absence of their mother, two puppies lost their lives. The team at Blue Cross are receiving a lot of calls for adopting the puppies of the brave heroic dog who saved the lives of so many.

Dogs are such heroic beings and their selfless ways and unconditional love look after us and keep us safe and protected from so many dangers. Hats off to the Indian Mongrel who laid her life and to thousands of other dogs who have sacrificed their lives to keep us safe.
