whether it is about their nature or their ability to adjust as pets with families. The society has long been divided between those who support the welfare of the Indian dogs - feed them, take care of them - and those who condemn their presence. Indian dogs
In an effort to dispel the myths and the condemnation with regards to the Indian Dogs and to showcase their finer qualities, a group of dog lovers have organized the Great Indian Dog Show at RT Nagar, Bangalore on 6th December 2014 between 3:00 Pm - 7:00 PM. This is the third time that the event is being organized by a 10-member activist group that works towards the welfare of the Indian dogs in the city.
According to one of the organizers - Danielle D'Souza, Indian dogs maybe a little more sturdy and just as healthy and sought after as the foreign breeds. The event aims to encourage pet lovers and families to adopt these dogs and give them the love and care that they truly deserve. In the past, dog owners and people looking to adopt have actively participated in the event. The event includes a panel of three judges - a canine behaviorist, a veterinarian and an animal rights activist - who assess the dogs and give away prizes. Some of the categories are - The Naughtiest puppy, The Wackiest Name, Survivor of the year. An adoption corner will also be set up by Animal Aid Alliance where people can adopt dogs and pups. The proceeds of the event will go to Voice of Stray Dogs, a not for profit animal protection organization. The registration is free.
