PRAZIQUANTEL, PYRANTEL EMBONATE & FEBANTEL TABLETS

Drontal Plus Tablet (Vet.)

[Tablets for the control of tapeworms and roundworms of dogs and puppies]

Directions For Use

(1 tablet contains 50 mg Praziquasntel U.S.P., 144 mg Pyrantel Embonate U.S.P. and

150 mg Febantel.)

 

Worms controlled include:

Ascarids : Toxocara canis , Toxascaris Leonia(adult and late immature forms).

Hookworms : Unicarnia stenocephala,Ancylostoma caninum(adults).

Whipworms : Trichuris vulpis(adults).

Tapeworms : Echinococcus species , Taenia species, Dipylidium species

(adult and immature forms).

 

Dosage :

1 tablet per 10 kg(22lbs) bodyweight. The tablets can be given directlty to the dog or

disguised in food. No starvation is needed before , or after, treatment.

Puppies and Small Dogs : ½-2 kg bodyweight = 1/4 tablet.

2-5 kg bodyweight = 1/2 tablet.

6-10 kg bodyweight = 1 tablet.

Medium Dogs : 11-15 kg bodyweight = 1 ½ tablets.

16-20 kg bodyweight = 2 tablets.

21-25 kg bodyweight = 2 ½ tablets.

26-30 kg bodyweight = 3 tablets.

Large Dogs : 31-35 kg bodyweight = 3 ½ tablets.

36-40 kg bodyweight = 4 tablets.

For the control of Toxocara nursing bitches should be dosed 2 weeks after giving birth and every two weeks until weaning.

Puppies should be treated at 2 weeks of age and every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age.

Thereafter they should be treated at three month intervals. It is advisable to treat the bitch at the same time as the puppies.

For routine control adult dogs should be treated every 3 months. In the event of heavy roundworm infestation a repeat dose should be given after 14 days.

Contra-indications, warnings etc.

  • Do not exceed recommended dose when treating pregnant bitches.
  • Do not use simultaneously with piperazine compounds.
  • Consult a veterinarian before trating pregnant bitches for roundworms.
  • Tapeworm infestation is certain to re-occur unless controil of intermediate hosts such as fleas, mice
  • etc. is undertaken.
