It is saddening to see that the drug market is not only swallowing the humans, but it hasn’t even spared the dogs. In Denver, a golden retriever, called Charlie was given heroin pill before dumping him. The incident happened on Tuesday, 13th September 2016, when police officials saw an alleged drug dealer near Cherry Creek Bike Path.

As per the police department of Denver, the suspect ran and was eventually caught by the police next to West 13th Avenue and Kalamath Street. The owner of Bark & Play, Mr. Garrett Bishop mentioned that 17 bags were found in the yard, but he had no idea what was inside the bags. He added, “Luckily, my employees are right on top of it and within 10 seconds of seeing a foreign object on the ground they were on it. They are the reason these dogs are safe.”

At that point of time, there were 14 dogs in the yard and despite of the quick retort by the employees of Bark & Play, two dogs still got into the bags. Sadly, Charlie, the golden retriever ate the drug and was taken to emergency room. The furball was given drugs to neutralize the effect of IVs and heroin.

Charlie’s human, Laura mentioned that, “She was really drugged up, really out of it. But I was really happy she was alive.” She understood the real consequences of the situation and said, “It affected my dog today but it could have been someone’s kid.”

As of now, police has arrested the suspect, Christian Manual Ramirez and is investigating him thoroughly.
