Dog Keeping Courses in India

29 May 2008 | by | Posted in: Wag News

I have seen many people looking for courses in Dog Keeping, Breeding, Grooming. However there is lack of information available around. I have been researching for Pet

Grooming courses for my wife and here is my experience.

There is no known professional college or institute in India for giving Pet grooming or breeding trainings. There may be a few dog trainers in south India giving dog training tuitions. I have learned Dog keeping as a hobby on my own, by interacting with other dog lovers, talking to Vets, attending dog shows.

To get a professional certificate in dog grooming people go to south east Asia (Singapore, Thailand etc). Japan is also known for pet grooming.

Then there are some colleges in UK, providing dog keeping courses. British council website list them all.

Unlike UK and other western countries India lacks in providing Vocational courses like Dog Keeping, Farm Maintanance, birds keeping etc.

If you want to be close to animals only way is to take up Bachelor degree course and become a Veterinarian.

Having said that I can see a shear need to have a animal keeping institute which may provide short term vocational courses.
