The saying "Jaake Rakhe Saiyaan Maar Sake Na Koi" (Nothing can cause harm to those who are protected by God) has been proved  right once again, only this time, by a dog.

In the landslide hit Saddal, Panchari area of Udhampur district in Jammu & Kashmir, rescue operations are being carried out by the teams of State Disaster Response Force. On Sunday, while continuing with their rescue operations in the small village of Panjar, the team heard moaning from the debris of a house. With an apprehension of finding someone alive, the team began the gruesome task of removing the debris and boulders from the house. As soon as the debris were removed, the teams found a dog who had been moaning. The dog, visibly weak had survived 45 days of being under the rubble. The rescue team offered warmth, food and water to the dog who is now on its way to recovery.

The month of September saw floods and landslides hit the state of Jammu & Kashmir causing massive damage to life and property. Rescue operations are still being carried out in search of people who have been missing in the ordeal. In the village of Panjar, 55 houses collapsed and more than 40 people have gone missing. Till date, around 26 bodies have been recovered.
