Dog wedding or business of managing events!

09 Sep 2008 | by Gaurav | Posted in: Events

How many of you remember the Dog Wedding held at a leading retail destination in Delhi/NCR a few days back?

I am sure majority of you would. Not because it was a great value addition to this ever growing population of pets and pet lovers but because it was a unique events idea. I am not sure how many people could actually get their dogs wed at the event, but the organizers sure got their bit of mileage and perhaps made good money too. If a front page of a leading newspaper was not enough, we also had an unparalleled word of mouth publicity of the event. What a PR idea!

Ask any professional dog lover if they were a part of the event and their reply would in most cases be no. Not because they dint know about it, but because they knew that it was more about non serious stuff which overlooked issues like behavior problems that a pet may face on being exposed to such an environment and so on. Or could it be the controversies that surrounded a similar event in Jaipur last year due to which it and had to be cancelled?
On the other hand, one is also forced to think that there would definitely be something in the event to draw approximately 400 registrations. I am sure there would be many who would have found dog grooms and brides, would have enjoyed a great time out with friends and family, and the same for their pets!
Whatever be it, this event proved that there is a good scope for innovative business ideas in the country!

Rana
I could not attend this dog event, also I thought its not a serious event, guess wat 400 regs is a good number.

I wonder why not the animal activists come out against these non serious events. If sm1 tries to improve breed quality or try to make business out of dogs they come forward.. Its like Mamta Banerjee for Nano
