Free Anti Rabies Vaccination Camp at Bareilly

On World Rabies Day a Free Anti Rabies Vaccination Camp for Pets was organised at Pet Clinic 148, Civil Lines, Bareilly . The same was also held at Rajendra Nagar & Tulsi Nagar setups of President Rtn. Dr. Abhai Tilak. Slogans of the day were
(a) Prevention is better, as there is NO cure
(b) Vaccinate your pet to make rabies History. Importance of Anti rabies vaccination to pet lovers was given by Lt. Col. Gurdeep Singh, Hony. Sec. Rohilkhand Kennel Club (RKC). He suggested that a pet should never go outside alone. Pres. RKC Mr. Dileep K. Tandon appreciated the participation of Rotary Club of Bareilly Chamber in this noble cause of controlling the deadly disease like Rabies.

The camp was smoothly run with the help of Vet. Assistants Mr.Vinod Kumar, Mr. Ranjeet & Mr. Boby where as technical data were taken by Mr.Puneet Goyal. In all 182 dogs of 14 breeds like Spitz, Pug, Labrador,Dalmantian, GSD etc. were given shots.
Dr. Tilak suggested that
(i) Pet should be vaccinated against rabies at 3 months of age  then annually
(ii) A  bite or lick on cut skin of a pet should be washed for 5 min. under running tap water preferably with carbolic soap
(iii) Pet should be closely watched for 15 days from the day of bite, if no untoward symptoms are observed the incidence of bite can be forgotten completely.
(iv) In case of stray bite, family physician should be consulted within 24 hrs.

He concluded that is case of pet bite your veterinarian whereas in stray bite your family physician should be consulted without fail. Vice President RKC Dr. C.K. Malhotra and Jt. Secretary RKC Mr. Rakesh Bhandari guided the proceedings.
