Lawyer’s Love Makes Stray Dog Walk Again [News]

18 Jun 2014 | by Shoumitro Roy | Posted in: Wag News

India has millions of strays, many of them victims of road accidents and violence and rarely do they receive any kind of help from us. This story is about a man who went out of his way to help a handicapped stray, proving his dedication towards dogs. Dr. Shaleen Mathur, a lawyer based in Kerala, rescued a stray dog whose hind legs got crippled by building a ‘wheel cart’, as he calls it. He found the dog on the street on its own, not being cared for. So Shaleen adopted him.

He started by searching images of dog wheelchairs and getting them printed. He then took the print outs to various iron weldors. With the meagre resources he had, he finally found a place where he could get a makeshift dog wheelchair made for the time being. But this devoted dog lover is not satisfied yet. He wishes to improve upon his first design and create a better wheelchair for the dog once he has enough resources to do so. We want word of this to get out and animal welfare groups to take notice and help this good Samaritan in fulfilling his wishes.

The dog is finally able to walk again and be happy. The dog is under Dr. Shaleen’s care and he proudly calls the dog as his.

http://www.handicappedpets.com / is a site for handicapped pets. I too had searched here for hind sport for my earlier pet, Bozo, who had difficulty walking due to kidney calculi for which there is no surgery/Lithotripsy in Lucknow, U.P. Kidney/bladder stones is a common problem with abandoned dogs.
