Opie, the only Dachshund-Chihuahua Left at El Cajon Shelter

13 Aug 2016 | by | Posted in: Wag News

The El Cajon shelter located in San Diego planned to clear out the shelter. Every dog got adopted except one, named Opie. Suddenly a call made the shelter owners happy, when Opie was adopted. However, the sad part came afterwards, when the prospective owner returned the pup to the shelter in just couple of hours.

Opie is a dachshund-chihuahua mix breed pooch, whose best living environment is described with no dogs and no kids. This bio has made him alone and lonesome. The story of Opie captured millions of hearts. According to s worker at the shelter, Opie was adopted by a man at 1 p.m., but was returned to the shelter by 4:30 p.m. When asked about the reason of returning the pup to the shelter, the man didn’t give any reason.

After the incident, numerous phone calls have flooded the animal shelter in San Diego for adopting Opie, but sadly because of his living restraints, the pooch is still looking for a forever home.

People these days give priority to purchasing of dogs and not adopting. This practice is certainly one of the worse of its kind. It is important to understand that all a dog wants is love, care and affection. The animal shelters in US have come together to motivate people to adopt pets and not buy them. It’s surely a good cause. We hope that Opie gets adopted soon and get the home which he deserves.
