My 6 month old Labrador has developed a rather hostile approach towards outsiders,help?

My 6 month old Labrador has developed a rather hostile approach towards outsiders in and around the house. Ive noticed he's very alert to even a slighest movement in the gate area. Yesterday, he even charged on 10 year old boy, though the dog was provoked into that action. Unless asked to stop, he'd relentlessly bark at the guests. This is very 'unlabrador' behaviour. When i briefed the breeder about it this is what he said- every dog has an innate tendency to protect his pack ( wonder he watch to too many episodes of caesar millar). I'd never anticipate we have to put 'beware of dog' on gate, but i think we have to put one. Please help.

he is turning into the MASTER. Dangerous and bad. You need to control him. YOU have to be his master. Google for training videos or if you have time watch Dog Whisper at Nat Geo 9-10 PM eachday. Will get to see real cool tricks.

@Navjot

Do not go for Cesar Milllan's Approach unless your are sure that you dog is out of control or going aggressive. Without observing your dog I cant say what he is upto.

But, I guess he is under-exercised. Lab are very hyperactive dog and needs a good exercise. Barking and Charging could be a play approach in some dogs and I believe your dog is still a puppy. Do not make assumption as the breed is very soft and mild. A dominant dog treatment will kill his attitude and playfulness.

No dog wants to be in Alpha position because it is a big responsibility. Only few dogs are Alpha by nature. Few have to become alpha coz lack of control and discipline.

I can sense that you are trying and applying different training techniques on you own. Dog training is not a one day thing and it takes years to understand it. Have faith and try different techniques you will master the art very soon. :)

if you are near vikashpuri I can come and have a look.
