Could someone suggest me with my buying of puppies plz?

Could someone suggest me with my buying of puppies plz. I have had a doberman and then later a pom much back. But right now I am thinking of buying 2 puppies, 1 Lab and 1 GSD or 2 Labs... I was advised by one of my friend not to go for a bitch. But I thought of buying 2 from the same family when it comes to Lab. I am confused, 1st should I go for 2 Labs or 1 Lab and 1 GSD, and should I adopt for both males or 1 male and 1 female. I stay in a penthouse apartment, its spacious. And I do understand that I shoud get 1 dog 1st. But Since I have had exp before, I guess its ok. Please help me out... Thanks

Hi, as you had a Dob before it would be advisable to go for a different breed now. As Dob's are excellent guard dogs, would recommend you to go for GSD & a Boxer. Labs are not good guard dogs. My personal opinion. All da best..!

If you ahve intentions to breed then you can go for 2 bitches, else you can go for both males.

Thanks a lot for the reply Boozo, I wanted these pups , not for the purpose of guard dogs, but mainly as family dogs. My concern is if I get a 1 GSD and 1 LAB, wont they be aggressive against each other. I have heard Lab's have good tempermant but GSD? Also I dont intend to breed, So I guess I would go with 2 males. But then again, the aggression factor still remains, What should I be doing about that?. Thanks

hey if they are raised together from puppyhood I don't think a GSD and a Lab will have any problems getting along at all - see the temperament of the dog is largely dependent on the first 6 months of socialisation. I would suggest that you bring home both the pups together and try to get them as close in age as possible. That way they will become playmates from day one and there won't be any aggression issues. I think a Lab and a GSD would be a great combo as they are similar in size and both can be exercised together. Boxers are also great dogs - very playful and goofy. All the best with your pups :-)

Thanks a lot buddy, I really appreciate your suggestion. I really hope I can find good pups both GSD and LAB......:).. Do you know how much usually a good breed of GSD and LAB might cost, I am from Bngalore, but right now out of station. Will be back in 1.5 weeks and should start hunting for pups.. Any suggestions would really help.
Thanks

Good breed GSD/LAB should cost you around 8k-15k again it depends on the pedigree. Good Boxers starts at 8k-20k depends on what pedigree lines you are looking for. You can contact Anil Anthony for boxers on 09845673338 or Tharun on 09035229551 for labs & boxers. Please give my reference as Kamal (Hyd). They should be able to help you out.

Hey Kim
I didn't read the entire thread, but best would be to get 1 pup at a time, get the other when the first is completly vaccinated etc.
As for agression, after vaccinating the pup you can begin its social education GSD's are great dogs and you can take them almost everywhere with you if they are socialised. And their protective streak towards their own home is also great, so you'd have a fine companion in them.

Labs are smart too, but they are not bred to be watch/ guard dogs, and need more exercise then the gsd, also have a tendancy to put on weight. But they are popular coz they r smart, no agression issues even with a minimal or no socialization effort.

For myself I have choosen the rottweiler :)
they r smart dogs, they can understand ur lifestyle (given the chance), short hair they need brushing
and love to play :)

They r affectionate and want to follow you all around the house, but if left alone or tied away they can get very agressive, which we dont want
