My GSD pup now 3.5 month old. His hind leg appears to be weak and is shaky while walking.

I brought home at 7 weeks and right from the beginning was on pedigree food, milk and a boiled egg. Was also supplementing with calcium and multivitamin. Two weeks back he reduced his food intake and then changed his food to Drools which he like initially, but reduced that as well. Since then started feeding him boiled chicken, 200 gm with red rice and some vegetable (twice daily) and drools with boiled egg and milk in the morning. His hind leg appears to be weak and his hip sways a quite while walking and doesn't appears normal. While walking his right hind leg hits his leg leg before landing. Whereas his front leg is very strong and quite sturdy. Pl advise.

Hi SridharWe think your Germans Shepherd pup might be suffering from nutritional deficiency and may be showing signs of Hip Dysplasia. Hip Dysplasia is a genetic disorder and is predominant in large breed dogs such as German Shepherds. We would suggest that you take your German Shepherd pup for a complete medical checkup to a good veterinarian. Post the medical check up - which may include blood tests, urology tests and X rays - your veterinarian will be in a better position to advice on the medication and the diet.We wish your pup a speedy recovery.RegardsTeam DogSpot
