How to stop dog habit eating sand, mud, dirt?

I had just picked up a Labrador male pupborn on 19 mar11. Whenever I take him out he insist on eating sand, mud, concrete, all dirt. Whatever I do he will just not move. It has made painful to take him for outdoor. He also has an habit of biting and just not scared and keep coming back for biting even if you hold his mouth closed. Is it normal? I fear if he does not start biting? Unlike lab he seems to be a bit aggressive? Please advice.

Eating sands, muds may be a sign of worms inside stomach. You can deworm him also regarding biting as this is the age of teething he will do this, to stop biting you, give him lot of chew toys, raw bones, dont hold his mouth closed, it may scare your puppy and that too may be the reason for biting. You can also try to diverting his mind by giving him some biscuits whenever he starts eating muds and sands... Labs never be aggressive, he may be a tough boy in his childhood.

Hello Dev Raj,

The puppie is calling you to take outside for pieing. Even my pup used to wake me around 3 AM in the mid night. Day they grow up they will have self control power. Labs are so brilliant. So whenever your puppy calls you taken him out. We have to understand them.

Hi guys, a humble suggestion, its best to train ur puppy to pee and shit in ur toilet, u just have to wash down with water after he learns to go to the bathroom every time and do it.no hassles of taking him out at 3 in the morning, whenever he feels the urge he'll himself walk into ur bathroom and comeback when finished be it middle of night or morning, so when u wake up in the morning just wash down..this is what i have done till date with every dog i had.Just don't forget to keep ur bathroom door open at all times...
