I keep telling people that they should not get a pup before it is 2 months old. They need the mother for her milk and other requirements. Can you imagine a 1 or 2 month new born human baby being taken away.

Anyway.............tiles and slippery floors are very bad for pups and dogs. lawns are a good idea for it to play on and run. One month is actually very small for it to really be jumping around. generally pups at this age will sleep, eat, pass tools and pee, and play for short time only.

Check with the breeder you bought it from to see how the other pups are doing.

The mentality of getting 4 week old puppies should stop. Many people think that it better to get the puppy younger but actually you are getting a puppy that had just started to wean. Dont forget the important socialization phase.

hi. i have a great dane pup with the same problem in my marble floored house.
this is a serious problem. large and giant breed pups grow very fast and they need a good surface so they can grip and get up and walk.
if u ignore him, his front legs will start to bend(called bowing and knuckling, google it) gradually and get crippled. the rear legs will turn outwards.but this is reversible, provided u take proper care early - before 6 months or the changes in the bones will become permanent. in very young pups - 1 to 3 months, the legs can get normal within 1-2 weeks.
the best thing u can do is to put him on rough surfaced floors, lawn or if u want him indoors use carpets. make sure he sleeps on the carpet, so he wont slip while getting up. walking and running around on slick floors is ok but dont let him lie down there.
he wants to lie on the floor because it is cooler. to make him stay on the carpet, sit with him there, play with him and keep all his toys there, feed him there. he will eventually prefer the carpet.
well, u wont have serious a problem as i had. my great dane pup grew insanely fast. you wake up in the morning and u can see he is bigger than last night lol :D
