I thought of shifting my lab puppy to pedigree, help?

I have a 2 1/2 month old male lab puppy. I was feeding him 250gms of royal canin maxi starter in 3 meals until he developed acidity and peed a drop of blood with his urine. It wasn't UTI. I later shifted 2 of his meals to home made which is 2 handful steamed rice + veggies + pulses + 1 raw egg + little curd per meal. He is fine now. I have 2 questions now. Is the amount of rice enough( 2 handful steamed rice per meal ). Since he has a problem with royal canin (2 of my friends dogs also got skin patches) I thought of shifting him to pedigree (professional range). He is around 6 kgs at the moment.
