When you bring a puppy home when he's let's say two months old or so, you have to even wake up in the midnight for somedays to take him out for potty. This practice is recommended to give him an understanding that never should he pee or pop inside the rooms. A 6 month old puppy shouldn't pee inside the house unless he's not been properly potty-trained.
Not only should you take him out before you sleep at night, you should also clean the surface where he relieves in the room with Urine Off. If you wipe his potty off with water, he will still continue to relieve on the same spot because the smell emanating from the spot will again drive him back there. So you have to first neuteralise the smell and start to train him to relieve out of the rooms.
Also, you can buy those potty scoopers they make life so easy. You can pick it in more tidy manner without messing up your house. After picking it up, wipe the surface off with a newspaper and then spray Urine Off and wipe the surface again.

:) "he is very intelligent"...my mom often says the same to mock at me and my pup :).
Experts have already commented...adhere to those. I would just like to add the following though I'hv not tried it personally...I had read about it somewhere....

Wrap his potty in a news paper -> keep it in front of him for an hour or so -> now put it in the desired place where he should poop -> take him to the place in the routine times when he poops. [Repeat]

Here pops in another expert named Ayon Saha. I just missed that Ayon. I think the tidier practise is to keep a urine soaked piece of cloth on a floor covered with a lot of newpapers. You should lay the newspapers where you want the puppy to do his daily business.

Dont punish him as he might have pooped night 3am and when you punish him on morning 6am then your puppy doesnt know why he get punishment.

Follow what Anil, Navjot and Ayon mentioned.

@Navjot: Come on, you know I don't deserve the tittle, I'm just a newbie in these matters. I'm living with my sweet heart just for 4months and she is my first pup. I learn a lot of things from you people and this site. With due respect to all, to be very frank, I always read very carefully what Navjot, Anil, KamalRaj and PennyPup writes. Lot to learn from there. Besides, in emergencies I also contact a friend of mine who is also in this forum as D.Chakraborty.
Navjot & Anil I was expecting your valuable comments @ https://www.dogspot.in/qna/4mo nth-old-labshe-sort-fair-follo wing-commands-but1-times-s/.
