Dog mating problem. please help?

i have one query... we are having fawn male lab, 2yrs 3months of age, he is of very gud breed as you can see in my pics & KCI registered as well. 2 days before we decided to mate him & female came to our place....may be becoz it was his first time...he smelled the female & started playing with her....& he didn't tried even 2 jump on her... that guy who has brought the female told us that he has crossed the age bar for breeding so mating can not be done. moreover he told us if mating is not done...he is heart will be weak & his age will also be lesser... please help...very much confused & tensed...

First I would suggest not to get confused or tensed, there is nothing to worry. With your query posted here would get many thoughts, here are my 2 cents.
If we compare's dog's age and corelate to human's age - 1 dog year = 7 human years. If we look at your dog in terms of human years, he has just turned 16, do you think a 16 year human is old enough to reproduce, I am sure he is not, that helps answer your question on the age and ability to reproduce.
Coming back to playing situation, are you sure the female dog was in heat ? and how many days she was she in when the female's owner came to your house ? which in your query has not been mentioned. Help post that piece in the qerry.

For first timers it may take a while to understand what to do etc. It is always better to get an experienced female for a male who's first time it is and vica versa. Play is the first part of getting to know the female etc. They need time together to play and then start doing what they should do. yes the 11th and the 13 th day are ideal but that does not mean that they are the only days. Plus the female may have to come back again.

Also keep in mind that after they mate and lock, you must hold both dogs and not let them run or pull as it can injure the dogs.
