I have yet to receive the transfer certificate and I also would like to change the name of my dog, help?

I have received a letter ref: I.R./ 7336/P on 10/12/08 from KCI. I have yet to receive the transfer certificate and I also would like to change the name of my dog. I am keen to send my puppy for the dog show. Should I await for the certificate or can I participate with the Xerox of the old certificate by the previous owner?

Yes the breeder has given me the papers . Along with those original papers I have applied for the transfer certificate. and the KCI letter in reply states that Should there be any defect u will receive a printed matter from us naming the defect and u r kindly requested to set right the defects at the earliest only then the certificate will be sent.Should I enter my dog in dog shows?

you can register for any KCI dog show when you the pup in your name registered as the KCI reg xerox has to be submitted when you register for the show. if you show in the previous owner name, and the pup wins CC, it will be of no value when the transfer KCI cert comes to you. So wait for the paper to come and call KCI chennai EACH DAY to have it done faster. Pester them..

Let me clarify the rule position. A dog must be entered in the name of the owner who is giving the entry. In other words one cannot enter a dog on someone's behalf. So it is not possible to enter in the name of the previous owner. In your case the previous owner can enter the dog and give your address and other details as C/o.

As regards the validity of a CC or any other award in the case of transfer of ownership, DoggiesDude has got it wrong. The CC is awarded to the dog not the owner. Therefore, the award remains valid even if the ownership changes. How else do you think we are able to import Champion dogs and retain their international titles??????
Further, pestering never gets you anywhere. Once KCI has responded to your enquiry/application it is upto you to comply with their requirement and get your case processed.

the title is retained ONCE the dog becomes a Champ... if no a champ, CC earned before gets cancelled. As per my experience, Pestering is needed.. it might differ case to case
