Dawn, it depends how you have raised your first dog. If your first dog is well socialised with other animals, he should accept the second dog. Labs usually get along very well with other pets in house. Before you actually purchase a new dog, you can introduce your Lab with the new dog in the neutral territory, ie not at your house, but at the place where your dog has never been in. Let the two dogs socialise themselves. By doing this, you will understand, how your dog will generally behave with the new dog. If your dog accepts the other dog (indicated by playing, or letting each other sniff each other ), you may consider taking the new dog at home. Also, before you actually buy the new dog, don't make a full payment to the breeder, tell him that you will complete the full transaction once it is accepted by the existing dog.
