Hello all Dog lovers i need advise and help urgently, I have a 7 month old German Shepherd(Sherdil) he lives with me in my flat in dwarka my house's entrance has two doors one is the wooden one and the other is an iron one(grill with mesh),during evening and morning when the weather is nice i open my wooden door while keeping the iron door securely locked so as to get some fresh air all the people in my block are well aware that i have a dog but recently a person who lives 2 floors above me is fighting with me a lot and asking me to keep the wooden door closed because my dog barks at him(and other people) when they are climbing the stairs that are in front of my gate(which barely takes a few seconds) matters have escalated to a very big level.I want to know what are my rights in this case and if the other person is wrong what can i do to stop him and if i am wrong should i do as he says or should i do something else plz help people i cant close the door and i need to stop this person(i am 90% sure he is wrong)can peta intervene?? if yes plz provide nos.

train ur dog not to bark excesivelly...take a water pistol and give a shot every time he barks...its a harm less action but can help ur dog to improve his habits......or u can have a trainer which will train him to bark at ur command......thanks

You need to train him not to bark. Yu can do what parvez bullmastiffs said, or you can keep him on leash at all times when inside. This way he cannot go to the door unless you go with him. And then when he barks, you can give a jerk on the leash and give a command such as "quiet" or "no noise." He will eventually learn that barking is wrong and will stop.

as said above is no true first of all you are not suppose to maintain a gsd in a flat and gsd are gaurd dogs ment to have a big space and mostly like backyards in bunglows but still advice you to leave him open inside a balcony or something

Hi. I searched the laws relating to the treatment of animals in India. You can only take action against your neighbor id he/she is causing physical injury to your GSD. I'm looking for more information but that's what i found till now. Try to talk with your neighbor calmly and see if that helps? Also allowing your GSD in your balcony is also good.I do that with my lab as i live in a flat too and agree that its my right to keep the dog wherever i want till im exercising him/her enough..Hope that helps..

friend though the breeds like gsd and dobbes are gaurd dogs and its in their blood, still they can be taught but socialising at the early age is also essential. when you take it for a walk request your friends to call it by name and feel it of course not on the head. also allow him to play with variety of toys, but i am against tieing the dog in appartment they get bored. i wish you success

thank you everyone for the answers especially Ms.Hema and Mr.Chandrankant
as for the socializing aspect my dog is well socialized he plays with the kids of my locality without the leash only problem is this person who teases him and wants to get his butt kicked by my dog.
