Hi, I am 12 years old and looking to adopt a dog. I simply love dogs. Can anyone guide me where I can adopt one. My Father refuses to buy one. He says they are too expensive.

Do you realise the responsibility and the cost in keeping a dog. Its not just the food bills but the medical bills also. You would be busy with school and who is going to take care of the pup. What about vacations, what then. Think about it and only get a pup if the family is also willing to take care of it.

I agree with Kasmanda. I have 2 dogs and i have to spend around 4000 rs. for them each month. They are one and half yrs old. if u take a puppy it will cost more. specially on its food and medication. u will have to visit the vet every month for shots and boost ups for a year and u will have to give it medicines regularly so that it does not get rickets and they will require ur full attention. They will mess the house. do poos every where. be sure of it and think twice before getting a per. they are a huge responsibility.

You've been passed some good advice already. Its best if you wait for a while, before you get urself a good dog that you've always wanted. I had to wait until I was 17 thats when I got my german shepherd. This is definetly not something one should rush into, too many dogs living in deprivation.
Now again I am looking for a dog, with the internet I am able to do alot more research and learn abt how to make the most of your dog, socialize them, train them so you can take them virtually anywhere.
Best if you wait a while, until then complete your research etc; that way you'll be ready to correct your four legged friend on housebreaking, on and off leash control etc.
And who knows with your new found knowledge perhaps your family would become a bit keen too :)
