In my experiance i dont think there should be a much of a problem.but before buying tell the qwner that you may return him if he does not settle properly.however there is very less chance of that but you should be sure and not take any chances.

Firstly you need to see why the dog is being offered to you. Was there a problem with him, behavioral or health wise. get it also checked my a good vet. Is he trained in basic obedience ?

The above are somethings that you need to first see and also have you done your research on the breed and are you suitable for it. Do you have space and time for it. What will happen if you were going on a holiday etc. Boxers need a lot of exercise daily, twice a day runs atleast.

The last thing you want is a broken heart for the second time for this dog so do your research first.

It is already 8 months old and used to its current owners and now it is going to get another owner and surroundings. The dog obviously is going to have a broken heart being picked up and put in a new place with new owners who will love him. If you have not matched the dog properly with yourself and your surroundings then later you may not be able to keep the dog and try to find a new home hence 2 nd time broken heart for the dog. Dogs love their owners or who care for them and they too have a heart which can get broken.

@ santosh
why did u decide to buy a 8 months puppy
whom r u buying it from -- i mean dog shelter / breeder / owner ??
as mr dinkar had put it rightly
since it is ur first dog
check with your local vet , if posible ask any of ur friend or relative who has a dog to check the dog for you.
go slow , before making a final decision

Totally agree with Dinkar, You can study about the breed online then see how well it can be bought in to your lifestyle. weight the pros and cons according to your House, dependants, willing to exercise the dog when you are tired from work, grooming many things...also most importantly as mentioned in the forum if theres any behavioral issues or health. Always remember you will be getting into a big responsibilty when you get a puppy for another 10-12 yrs. So think a lotif you can give that much time to your beloved dog.
I always believe a breathing dog can be trained. Hope this helps...
