Hi Govind, it seems that u like Medium/bigger sized dogs, which is fine. I think whichever breed you decide make sure that you hv enough time, space, devotion, money and energy to spend on the breed. And most most importantly, where you buy from is very imp. you would come across a few ppl who had taken labradore puppy bt when it grew it turned out to be desix mix lab, and then you can not disown the pup cuz u luv him and it doesnt serve your pupose. I hope you get my point. I think, Labradore or golden retriever is a gd idea for you as you dont hv much experience and labs are very affectionate. however, pls beware that labs tend to eat or chew anything and everything at home, so you need to train him or her...wish you loads of luck....

For novice owners i think dalmations can be good.,though they are fond of running.personally i like them better than lab.though i have a boxer,u can also think about it.

This is to Shalin, personally i believe DALMATIANS ARE A STRICT NO for novice owners.well i have a dalmaian but he's my 5th pet, they do love running, but at least 1-2 hrs a day of running, and then they have a lot of digestion and diet probe for which u really need to be experienced owner.Do not mind I do not want to contradict anybody's statement but..jst a suggestion labs will be much easier to handle and bring up than dalmatians for 1st timers. Also if during the first 6 months they are not trained properly they can be real stubborn.Well lastly of course if u can give that extra energy and understanding while training them they are one of the loveliest of dogs...

hey thanks luv, shalin ,abhishek..:)yes luv...i like the medium sized ones...only exception being the pug...Hey,you guys really helped.... thank you ppl..:)now that i got a few ppl who really know their stuff...i`ll be budging u with more questions..:)even my first love was the lab.. then i heard abt its excercise requirements... i`ll be working during the day..but i think i`ll be able to walk him once a day for sure..even got a lake nearby..Would it be a problem,if i`m not able to walk him everyday.?not that i look into it,but even if i get busy, or its the raiiny season(personally..i love to sleep late in the rainy season)...I dont want my dog to be sad or affected in a big way.

hi govind, m glad we hv been some help 4 u. if you r thinking of ANY DOG pls note that you can not think of leaving him alone at home during the day. all the dogs even if you hv two dogs, can not be left alone for more than 3 hours. and if you r thinking of labs, pls note that he needs regular walks daily, lots of play time with you and you have to consider 15 years of the same stuff, in excitement you may decide to tk him for walk, bt consider the same process for 15 years...having a dog is a serious affair.

Being a novice owner I think you should not go for Bull-mastiff!!!
Also talk to dog owners who have had dogs for more than 2yrs, that will help u to get the overall perspective....
Its also very important that your mentality and character or your habits should go with that of ur dog. Check for the breeds characteristics first....what they expect from you and what should they at least get.....like good care, good exercise, proper grooming. Consider vaccination as a very important think and their health issues, Do a li'l research on the diseases that the breed commonly suffers from. Etc...etc...etc.....

You are right, you hv to earn money for sure, bt at the same time, there has to be some1 at home as you can not leave him completely alone. leaving in open back yard is also not safe is there is no one to look after him. some1 can hurt him, steal him or he may eat something poisonous etc...be patient and find out a solution then you can go for the dog...

Hi Govindok,

Excellent thought, never buy a puppy from a pet store, veterinary doctor or a backyard breeder. Read this blog http://woofindia.wordpress.com . Post your query there and he will help you. Best guy in India.

take care
karan
