Which one is good Dog Food drools and Canobites or Eukanuba?

Hi, I want to know which is the best dog food in the market in terms of cost as well as value. I currently feed my Lab ( a 3 months old ) with drools. Initially I fed him Eukanuba but when I up grated it, he didn't like it apparently because of big size of food contents. I then ( after consulting my vet ) offered him Canobites which he liked it, though, I did find it rather expensive. When I went to shop some accessories from a pet shop, the owner recommended me to feed him with drool as it's cheap ( 1.5 KG in rs 215 ) and it's easy to chew as it has relatively small pieces. So far, my puppy likes it. How has your experience with drool and Canobites? Should I continue feeding him drools or shift to a yet another brand? In my opinion, all dog food brands in India sell food with high standards whether it's pedigree ( though none even talk about it ) or drool. All offer the basic nutrition and all offer highly digestible food contents. I want people to share their thoughts!!

Well I've never heard of Drools dog food but then I don'T live in India. =D

As far as Pedigree dog food, it is terrible. It is very bad for your dog and no one should feed it.

The best way to tell if a dog food is good, is to look at the ingredient list. If corn is listed at all, it's not a good food. (Dogs should not eat corn) Meat should be the first ingredient, or else meat meal should be in the first 3 ingredients.

unfortunately most feed are grain mixed. Couple of good brands here but not consistance in supply . Drools is a local brand in India.

Hi both,
When we talk about the ingredients, Drools has chicken, whole dried eggs, animal fats, fish oil, corn oil, soya refined oil, corn, wheat, etc.

well normally its said if dark stool its from red meat, or excess of organs. Drools gives dark stool which contradict the content as per my view.

Perhaps, that's right, Anil. So what's the best food for a puppy?

Hi Navjot,

What Mr.Anil said is absolutely right, you can feed your lab home made food or raw food, it is damm good for your puppy as per my personnel experience. As per kibble concerned, i am keeping science plan/taste of wild as back up, these brands are little expensive but definitely good for your lab.

AT present if we talk about quality so here are some observations..........cano bits not make your dog fatty you will see the growth in terms of weight & hieght will serve other nutrition value to strebghten immunity as well a bit costly but best as of today in range of indian products second comes the royal canine good in all terms except nutrion value for joints is bit low some time petlovers feedin royal canine from long time complainted about joint problem specially for labs as royal canine will definitely make them fatty third comes the best of all science and Hills dogs most costly but the best every nutient value covered in it eukanuba is good but size is a problem for your puppy then soak it in curd befor serving drools is ok but smells very bad pedigree is ok but too hard for pups so again serve soaked in curd i got three labs one adult and two puppies(4months now) tried every food availble also to start a dog food and to have your pup to it use this trick get chicken liver boil it mash it the same boiled water and soak dog food with curd in it serve the mixture also along with dog food calcium suppleement and multivitamin supplements are must if not looking at cost irsish cal is best amongst all for calcium and canine plus as multivitamin or else can go with caldipet or ostopet for calcium and verol for multivitamin all try and tested so try it and make your decision according to your pups choice and favour

I feed my puppy drools only in Morning (7:00 AM) and in the evening (6:00PM ). He doesn't like it in hot Afternoon. In Between, we feed him curd around 1:00 PM in Afternoon and around 8:00 in evening. Apart from this he likes to have Scoobysticks ( given not more than 4 sticks, in all flavours- chicken, beef, Lamb ).
He's also given Gnawler's raw hide chews in beef flavour( 2 pieces ).
Apart from that, he's given Nutrisam 365 ( a palatable Vitamin, Mineral, EFA and EAA supplement ) and Merical Pet ( a palatable nutrient supplement enriched with calcium ). The above supplement are recommended by the Vet.
I also occasionally feed him Pedigree's chicken gravy, given either directly or mixed with dog food.

@ Abhijeet. WHat about RC's breed specific food. There is LABRADOR JUNIOR. Just copying a paragraph from their website : Labrador Retriever Junior 33 contributes to the healthy development of the Labrador puppy's strong bones thanks to an adapted intake of energy, proteins, calcium and phosphorus and helps supporting his joints at an early age to the action of chondroitin, glucosamine and EPA & DHA. Labrador Retriever Junior 33 prevents excess weight gain from a very young age, promotes equilibrium of the intestinal flora due to prebiotics and Psyllium and helps supporting the young puppy's natural defences

Nutritional balance should be made in a period of time. its not practical to make each diet balanced in every aspect. Humans also eat different sort of food and do not work nutrition in every diet. So its impossible to balance the diet over a time and not at one go

see navjot if i talk about any dog food present in market so the analysis would be like .........you get palak paneer packed in ready to eat packages may be taste will be equivalent to a fresh cooked dish but nutritional value will be less so in my opinion there is no other option to home made diet........so let me tell you what i am doing because at this point of time i have seen so many lab pups around and vets clinic at friends houses and and as well breeder and but if i compare my pups with their pups mine are far better in every term coat , growth weight, activeness, food habits, and every thing............i had problem in this matter only once when my black sweetheart got sick due to indigestion after eating 6 boiled eggs together ( which was placed to cooled down and suddenly she came from other room and ate them all together even when she had her lunch 5 minutes back )at an age of 2 months and got admitted for 6 days rest no prblem so far ........................what i am doing is using boneless chicken, chiken liver, and crused cartiledge bone( the soft white bone of chicken chest) , potatos, cauliflower, tomatoes every thing cutted into small pieces ,and soya crush, quarter tb. spoon iodised salt
nonveg material 500gm and rest 200 gm cooked with rice and daliya mix with no oil in it .........has to be well cooked......after cooling down adding two eggs (raw) and curd to it then adding canobits to it and let it soaked for atleast 1/2hour before serving all together apporximately .75 to 1 kg food i am serving in one time with irsish cal powder mixed in it to one dog that is two time in a day and now serving them three time a day at a difference of 8 hours each only at night i am serving curd with chapati's or plain bolied rice............along with them using only one supllement more that is canine plus tablets .........i never found any complaints in terms with growth in all respect digest in all sense..,,,......potty is also fine......more of it they eat it with great taste.....giving them chewstick and boiled legs of goat(boiled paya) to chew ......for head size.........appointed a trainer for basic obiedence ....further trainings........so all together in my opinion any dog food you give is ok ......but if you have that sort of pet love then you gott feed them best fresh and you gotta clean there potties and urine ( mine are not creating this trouble any more) and you gotta love them like your own kids...................with mine pups they are mismarked bothe black and chocolate.........and have no kennel club certification so far but i will try to get them registered because as per kci they are acceptable rest i proud of my both daughters so depends the way you wanna do it.....you get it the same way........

and considering dog foods available in market i tried all of them tried tghrie mixture like .....cano bits+royal canine evry doog food i tried them all............so if you are even feeding dog food serve their mixtures or keep on changing them and the best way to bring change if start serving it with chicken mince i am sure no dog can say to chicken( still exceptions are ther because i had one mongrel which was fruitarian only)

now for the people suggest barf in india in india the quality of non-veg available i d on't think there is even single place who will give hygenic raw non-veg along with them for raw food ......there is bigger possibility of worms because blood do contains worms eggs untill and unless not cooked at high tempreature......they don't get destroyed and i never wanna try a risk in the name of trying it because if it's and indian breed you have the enviorement support their immune system and so far they can manage barf diet as wells because of that but any outside breed like labra i will not suggest and specially labra are proned to eat they love eating and that is why they put on so much of weight in our terms they bhukkad so make your decision smartly

When I got my dog, Moti, as a puppy, the breeder had been giving him saborvita dog food. I received a small bag of this dog food from the breeder and I continued to feed him this until he was about a year old. I noticed that he was always picky about the food, usually never finished his food, and his coat wasn't as shiny and long as it was supposed to be at his age. I talked to my vet about this and she recommended drools. She even gave me a sample pack of drools dog food. I started to feed it to my dog. I can tell that he really likes the food and his coat has been as shiny as ever since then! Thanks, drools!!

Guys, i am buying a 3 month old doberman female, and planning to give her taste of the wild dog food, what are your suggestions on this as i am not interested giving her home cook food, as i believe i don't have expertise in this and might not give her the best for her age and breed!!! give me some suggestions, i don't want to rely on any Indian dog food brand as i believe that 1st we people don't have that expertise on this matter and i have searched the website of drools and there is no specification of ingredients there, it is just written they mix all these ingredients but how much and from where they source the raw material from i had some very good reviews about the taste of the wild from some european friends now i would like to take your suggestions on this matter

1. For puppy less than 4 month you can go for pedigree weaning. 400 gm/day.
Split the quantity into 4 times.proper deworming is must.water should be available for the puppy all times.

2. Do not please the puppy when it cries unnecessary.not even single time.rather u can say harsh NO.
