Ideally, this is a season when lices, ticks, go to hibernation and are by and large inactive. Does you dog go to grasses? If so, then avoid letting him go to grassy area as dogs usually pick ticks and lices from there. Also keep the surrounding area clean. I've used Petcare's Notix Forte powder on my Labrador and have found good results. I also use this powder as a repellent when we have to take him to parks for training.
Also, brushing the coat also keeps skin related issues at bay. It's just a habbit you start right from the puppyhood. You can also feed him a good coat supplement. I feed him Nutricoat even when his coat is healthy. Since skin is such a susceptible part of our dog, it's not a bad idea to feed them hair supplement even when they have a healthy coat.
