Good going mate...u already taught him almost all the basic commands. Teaching a young pup is very easy if u use treats. For the down command do the following..First get his attention..then make him sit..praise him for sitting..then show him the treat and place it on floor in the area between his two front legs. Pup will go for the snack by going down..in that very same moment use the word DOWN and when he is completely on the ground praise him like he has has done the best thing in the world. Continue this for the next 5-10 mins. HE will get it eventually.
The key to successful training is to keep the training short(10-15 mins), use single words and give loads of praise. Use these commands repetitively under different circumstances so that pup gets used to all of these. The basic commands if done properly at early age can be enough to have a good mannered friend in the house.
Hope this helps.

U already know this but yet again i gonna tell u....be patient! Its a pup n u dont wanna force him into doing anything. Continue the same method again n again. But remember to be consistent...dont introduce any change otherwise he might get confused. If required, while u put ur treat/toy down on floor u can hold his front legs and show him the position. While doing so say ur command and then after placing him in this position praise him. Dont be forceful in this method so take special care of this. He will soon understand what he is expected to do on DOWN command.
treats r used to lure the pup to do the required action. so if he isn't interested in treats then u can use his favorite toy as well. anything that he is interested in playing with can help u in training. May b he doesn't like these treats so u can even try same method with some new treats.
Also remember one thing, dont let ur pup be addicted to treats. Always give a lot of praise after every act and make him used to that.
If you want to go and participate in dog shows then u can might need some professional help. Otherwise if u just want a companion/family pet then i suppose basic commands would suffice the requirement. If u r able to teach him the basic commands at early age then it simplifies the rest of the years. But its your choice at the end!
Hope all of these helps!

you dont need a trainer at all..you have done it yourself n its the best bonding ..just make sure u keep practising it each day else dogs tend to forget easily..all the best.
