hi roy
their is a myth about tibetan mastiff or saint bernard or new foundland ,that they need extra cool weather. but in my view they only need a good vantilation means they doesn't feel good in humedity . i doesn't know a lot about the climate of kolkata.but if u don't want your dog in a.c than cooler is best for this breed.

Hi,
This is my personal opinion and please feel free to differ, but I really feel Kolkata weather is not at all conducive to the heavily coated breeds like the Tibetan Mastiff or St. Bernard. While they might survive, they feel definitely be extremely uncomfortable in the long summer and mild winter of Kolkata. While an AC might help, it is hardly possible to always keep the dog in an AC environment. Even exercising it will become tough. And the high humidity of Kolkata makes air coolers absolutely useless in Kolkata. Might be a much better idea to find a breed better suited to the climate. All the best!

Humid weather for TM is not good. Plus these dogs need open space for exercise otherwise they can develop behavioral problems at times. I have kept TM for quite a few years, up in the hills where they do really well.
