If you plan to keep a pug, then you need to be prepared as this dog needs a lot of attention and care. Pug is prone to skin infection and often suffer from respiratory problems in hot climate areas. Also, they demand daily maintenance. You need to clean folds in their face every day as moisture can cause infection in their body. You also need to keep a close watch on your dog and the kids as pugs eyes are very prone to injuries and one can unintentionally hurt them.
This dog also requires a lot of veterinary attention. As such this breed is a high maintenance breed. This dog usually thrive well in slightly cold climates. If you want to keep small breeds you can choose from among various others healthier breeds like beagle, Lhasa Apso, Japanese Spitz, etc.
