My dog has been badly bitten by street dogs on its spine and back legs, help?

Our pet dog had gone astray 4 days back and we only just found it . Its been badly bitten by street dogs on its spine and back legs . The legs are swollen really badly. The local vet had administered antibiotics , both injection and intravenous through saline solution. What we're noticing is heavy shedding of fur on both legs and worried that they are infected beyond repair and might have to amputate. Is there further procedure to the treatments and precautions needed. Specially since the wound/bite is 3 days old and has spread through into whole of the leg. The dog could initially stand , but couldnt sit . No if we make her lie down, he's unable to get up all by himself. Once he's standing , he does walk towards us if coaxed.

Please continue the treatment prescribed by the Vet. Have you investigated what made your dog go astray? Has he been chained and not allowed to experience the outside world?? Or, he ran away to mate female in the street?
Once your dog has recuperated from this please get him neutered.
