Most of the Dog Foods available at a decent store are good but i personally prefer Royal Canin, reason being that Royal Canin is the only one that gives you a breed/size specific Dog Food..... and the quality is unmatched... but make sure that you purchase it from a reputed store to avoid ingenuine/old stock dog foods...

Thanks & Regards
Tariq

Royal Canin is best in INDIA. Apart from RC you can also go for Science Diet from Hills

I have tried Royal Canin and Science plan and found science plan to be the best. However you do not get it in all pet stores. Royal canin has more fillers than science plan which is of no nutritional value.

None is good enough that is available in India, except for Drools, Venky's Regale. I feed this to my dogs. Others contain too much grains, remains of corn which is not healthy for dogs. When they mention chicken bye-products means they use beaks, feathers etc, which are not consumed by humans. Check the ingredients - first one or two products should be meat. Corn gluten meal is bad for your dogs. If you wish I can send you a link. No good product yet available in India. If you are a non-veg, then feed boiled meat and boneless chciken with ample vegetables. Also give them fresh fruits. Give boiled eggs after consulting vet

I dont think Drools is good as it contains Corn, Corn oil, corn gluten meal and wheat.
None of these are good for dogs.. But I m not sure with Venky's regale..

Hi Rajesh, I completely agree with you about drools, but at least 1st ingredient is chicken and it contains whole dried eggs whereas in most of the other products chicken bye-products are used and grains are mentioned as 1st ingredient.

Hi Sanjeet, kindly refer link for pedigree and other such products http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com /dog_food_reviews/showproduct. php/product/1885/sort/2/cat/al l/page/1

Also refer link as to how to find which is good products but these are not available in India. Canidae and nutragold will soon be coming to India.

Hi Rajesh, even science diet contains Corn Gluten Meal, Animal Fat (they did not mention which animal fat, like chicken fat), plus it contains Chicken By-Product Meal and by-products means they use parts not used by humans such as beak, feathers etc. It also contains lot many other grains also.

Hi Nishaant, you are rite. The best for a dog is home made food. I boil vegetables like cabbage, carrots, beet, sweet potato with some rice / oats / ragi and boneless chicken / chicken liver and feed him. I also feed him one egg a day and also mix small amt of vitamin e oil to his food in the bowl. I feel this to be a cheaper and better food for my puppy.

When it comes to grain you can stop it only in case he does not have any problem with it. If he doesnt have any problem you can use rice / oats / ragi. You get fibre from oats and ragi and get good carbo from rice.

RC no doute is good food but costly from last one year we got drools as value for money alternative of RC, Drools contains chicken and egg as first ingredient and free from fillers. additionally it also contains prebiotics and probiotics for batter digestive health.
