thanx Dr.saurabh.In fact this question came to my mind after reading your comment on some dog show.Frankly,I believe the opposite. There r lot of things going down the drain, but many more good things are happening fast.
As a kid my neighbor's GSD looked like godzilla to me.13 years back when my first dane puppy was growing every week,my neighbor's kids and even elderly were expressing similar view. But for me, my dane even with 37" at withers was not large enough.Last 13 years dogs in show ring hv changed a lot, more pronounced in Bangalore.I take show ring to judge the dogs because that is where comnformation showcasing is
supposed to happen.Firstly no. of breeds 13 years back were more or less the British left behind were popular.
Last 5-6 years no. of breeds in show ring hv increased with leaps and bounds. The hairy breeds and their grooming quality is improving.Lot more is desired but a few international quality dogs in every show are seen. Dogs seen only in pictures r seen with expert foreign handlers is treat to watch.Dog show game is fast
migrating frm the kings to rich to common man.Just take great danes. The quality of Indian bred show danes is at par with international.Top danes r being actively advertised and blood lines are talked about for the entire show day.As the dogs of new breeds hv become more affordable, there is spurt in no. of dogs, and hence
hv more bad and more good dogs.Instead of only a handful of show homes, now they hv multiplied. Not all could be good, and hence substandard show homes, substandard breeders hv increased in proportional measure to good and great ones.Yes more amateurs means many substandard dogs import or otherwise.Yet the good ones r also in greater no.Pet dogs is different story though.
