Should i adopt an aggressive dog?

I recently found a 2 nd a half year rottweiler for sale and he appeared a bit aggressive at d first look but d owner was quite sure dat d dog would adjust himself.. so would adopting him be a good idea ???

If you are serious about the breed and have done your research about the breed and feel it is the right breed only then look at it. Is it a male or a female. Have a look at the dog in a public place and not its house as the breed is protective of its house and owners, which does not mean its aggressive or vicious. having said that its not a breed for everyone or anyone, hence you must be sure plus have prior experience with big dogs.

An adult dog that too a Rottweiler can be a challenge, unless it is very well socialised and very friendly. Again I personally would not advise an adult dog regardless of any breed if you have children in the house.

Please be sure, if you really need a rottweiler, because rottweilers can be very dominating if not properly socialised from puppyhood, large dogs like, Rottweiler, PitT bull terrier, Dogo etc are not for novice owners, and also that they need lots and lots of excercise, just to live. All the best.

Dear Ashutosh,

Please give it a thought what Mr. Singh had mentioned. If u r a novice owner then i dont think it will be a wise thing to do.

If you have not handled a rotty before i will not recommend this. the dog is already aggressive and rotties are one the most dominant and powerful dog breed in this world. 326 pound per inch Jaw power is not a Joke one wrong thing and you will be sorry for keeping a rotty and later on you will blame the dog. This all can happen if you no prior experience with dominant dog. So its your wish!!!

i m sure dat i can keep aggressive dogs one of the most impotant reason for dog aggression is bcoz of lack of space and i have a farm of lot of space secondly i need a dog for guarding i had a lab but it is totally useless for guarding bcoz they r so playful anyone cum and feed them ,they will be after them but this dog will go for guarding no..
thirdly i m quite experienced person bcoz i have 2 lab (3 yeears ) and 1 german shepard so i think i can handle it

@vaibhav Aggression is not only due to lack of space, the reason could be of many type, fear, dominance etc. Brother I know you need an aggressive dog but the right dog you are looking for a guard dog. Do not think an aggressive dog will be a guard dog. and If you do not have any prior experience with a guard dog then better you start with a female puppy. Trust me if you do not have a prior experience you cant handle an adult male rotty. Rotty is a Kind of breed which learn human manipulation very easily. If you will do mistake the breed will overpower you. That is all I wanted to say.

A 2.5 years old rottweiller is not a pup. First try to get friendly with it at the owners place or out on walks with the owner. You got to click with it else it will take a slice off your backside. Dogs do not forget their real owners or homes and will always yearn to be back at their old master's home. If this is your first dog then you will be better off looking for a pup. Make no mistake. I brought home an abandoned Indian Spitz, Bozo, of 2.5 years because I clicked with it at its foster home. There were others there that only snarled at me. I had had the experience with a Spitz before Bozo. I adore Spitz. Yet six months down the line I frankly would say that Bozo yet temperamentally is not like my earlier Spitz that I had reared from a 2.5 months old pup. However, frankly I was not looking for a pup after my earlier Spitz passed away.

adoption is a noble cause but y do most of d ppl want good pedgree dog y not rescued stray dogs. d motive of buying a dog is as an companion n not for show. strays r equally playful n can also guard if trained.

Sorry, don't make that mistake - you will be in trouble the dog is completely matured, no way of changing him.
