Firstly please see if a lab is the right choice for you and if you can dedicate enough time and space, regardless of breed. Just a few questions below is someone who does not have time yet has a 6 month old lab who in my opinion cannot take care of it and hence a mis match.

Secondly where are you located so that one can suggest good reputed breeders in your area.

Thirdly see both parents before buying the pup and only buy one which is atleast 2 months old. Good breeders sell pups with full registration etc.

There is enough info on the net regarding labs and their requirements and what it is like living with one. Do some search on google. If you have any specific questions shoot...

What do you mean by good breed, that means you dont know what breed u want. as far as i can understand.

Tell me your living area, apartment house etc and how much time you have, past experience with dogs and any financial constraints.

Beagles are nice dogs low on maintenance as such, but they are pack animals and will not like to be left alone so keep that in mind and also they have a loud bark as for their size which is good as long as noise is not an issue. As for the cost generally it should cost you around 18K-25k for a show quality pup, as for a pet quality pup which you require, it can cost you around 12k odd I think. That does not mean that you need to contact bad breeders or ones without champion parents. Good breeders will generally tell you if they have a pet quality pup and hence will cost less. Mr. SURESH BHIMSINGH I think is in Bangalore and I think he keeps beagles. Do a search on him. Check with him but see both parents etc before buying. I am not vouching for anyone. Avoid pet shops. You can also call the Kennel club of India for the club secretaries number in your city and they can also guide you regarding beagle breeders in Bangalore.
It is always better to speak to the breeder about the breed as it also tells you whether he or she is really interested in the breed or is just doing it for the money only.
Another option for apartments is also Dachshund, once very popular in India.
