I want to give my dogs brown rice, can i give?

I want to give my dogs brown rice. This is rice where only the outer husk has been removed. It is crunchy, is brown in colour on having been cooked and has all the natural fibers, minerals and vitamins. However what u get in the market here in Lucknow are a few branded ones that are rice that has been readied for polishing. In other words the inner husk and germ has been removed. The varieties available here are Tilda, Dawat, and Kohinoor, all basmati variety with MRPs ranging between Rs120-Rs140. I have been informed at IndusLadies that brown rice should not cost more than Rs40/kg as no processing is involved other than the outer husk having been removed and that it requires to be packed because the oil in the germ can spoil the rice if kept in the open. All I know is that it is the staple food for humans in Bihar and Chattisgarh. Forum members could help/guide me for the same.

now a days people do not grow brown rice coz other cheaper option for rice is there for human consumption. So you can go for thick broken rice which is available at abt 12-15 INR per kg.

"do not grow brown rice". But Anil all rice is brown until you take out the inner brown husk and germ and then polish it with talc to give it the scent and sell this white rice which people are very fond of eating. Or else do not polish it but boil it (called as parboilded rice) so that the starch is removed and then sell it to diabetics as sela rice. Anyhow I would like to know if this "thick broken rice" is brown in colour, i.e. does it have the inner brown husk and germ?

my view point was from a layman angle. The normal brown rice which is suggested for dog is/was grown in eastern UP and Bihar. Maybe its stilll grown but n cities its hard to find. You can try it at Daliganj Kirana Shops (wholesale ones). they might have some clue
