I am also a 5 month old black lab owner,I recently changed his food. Now we gave pedigree, recently we faced many problems when we feed our puppy (drools). Its one of the worst dog food I ever seen in my life.
It contains large amount of omega 3 which is harmful,I know omega 3 is good for health but in drools omega 3 quantity is very high and it also contains unnamed low quality ingredients. Pedigree is a good dog food, but many people said that its not a complete dog food, when you searching on internet pedigree ratings is very low,Everybody likes Royal Canin, but these people don't even know that pedigree and royal canin both are the product of Mars International and 95% ingredients are same.Other good dog food is Eukanuba.
I think if your budget is tight Pedigree is a good option & for all pedigree haters just improve your knowledge.

Important Notice - Drools is very harmful it contains old and low quality ingredients.Drools contanis large quantity of Omega 3 fatty acid and some unnamed grains and fat ,which is dangerous for your puppy because it damage your puppy metabolism. Mites and virus attack him and result - Food allegry, Infection,Diarrhea etc.

you should feed him homemade food if you cant afford premium food,it would be better than giving him all this crap, give him chappatis, rice and vegtables with curd and you can feed him eggs twice a week for protein and calcium.
