Stray Dog frightens people in Manjalpur, Vadodara

14 Oct 2016 | by Deepshikha Tahiliani | Posted in: Wag News

Looks like another city has been added to the list of cities facing stray dog issues, this time it’s Vadodara. Apparently, a stray dog has been biting people away who are visiting the Surajdev Society in Manjalpur. This stray was witnessed in the society a couple of time earlier too. He became a bit too aggressive and the society people claim that the dog has bitten about 8-10 people already.

However, the residents of Surajdev Society mention that the dog has been biting people of other society and not Surajdev. Jayanti Patel, who is the president of Surajdev Society in Manjalpur said, “People like maids, vendors who visit the society as well as construction workers have been bitten by the dog.”

A complaint has already been lodged at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation last week. But Alas! No action has been taken as of now. Patel also added by saying that this particular stray dog also attacked a man on Monday, 10th October 2016. Thankfully, the society members reached on time and saved him from major injuries.

The Municipal Cooperation of Vadodara authorities have mentioned that the complaint has been forwarded to the concerned officials. This is an issue of health department and they will soon look into the situation.

Stray Dog attacks have become a common sight in south India. A lot of cases have been registered and numerous stray dogs have been killed illegally. However, the government will have to understand that killing the strays will never be an option. This massive issue can be solved by taking appropriate measures such as sterilization and neutering of the strays.

We hope an apt decision is taken soon.
