Megan Kurtz Campbell, a 19-year-old teenager from Virginia is facing
animal cruelty charges after she locked her dog in the car to shop at PetSmart on a hot day. The irony of the matter is that PetSmart allows pets inside their store!
Police and firefighters were alerted about a dog in distress inside a locked car by some passerby. They managed to reach the vehicle and bring the dog out but were unable to revive it. The dog was rushed to the
vet’s office inside PetSmart but was pronounced dead on arrival. Campbell was immediately arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty.

It really is disturbing to see pets lose their lives due to such gross negligence. Pet owners are repeatedly warned to not leave their dogs inside locked cars as the temperatures tend to rise quickly leading to death by suffocation. Please do remember this little detail when you take your pet out next time. And if you do have to leave them in the car, remember to roll down the windows a bit.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have such strict rules in place in our country too? Perhaps that would reduce the recent spate of animal cruelty cases. Share your views with us in the comments section below.
